We are seeking a Cloud Operations Engineer to join our global Technology Operations team, supporting our hybrid multi-cloud environment built primarily on Azure and AWS. The role ensures the operational health, security, cost efficiency, and scalability of our cloud platforms supporting B2B services across multiple regions. The role contributes to ongoing cloud cost optimization and hybrid infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and maintain cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWS, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Manage cloud resource provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
• Monitor cloud platform health, capacity, and consumption; respond to alerts and incidents impacting cloud services.
• Execute and continuously improve cloud cost optimization initiatives: rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans, idle resource identification, and storage tier management.
• Implement and maintain FinOps practices including cost allocation, tagging policies, chargeback / showback reporting, and budget alerting.
• Manage cloud identity and access (Azure Entra ID, AWS IAM): role design, policy review, least-privilege enforcement.
• Apply and audit cloud security baselines (CIS benchmarks, vendor security best practices) across all subscriptions and accounts.
• Coordinate cloud platform changes through formal change management; participate in change advisory boards.
• Support cloud disaster recovery and backup strategies; validate recovery procedures regularly.
• Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, Network, and Security teams on hybrid architecture, connectivity, and platform design.
• Maintain cloud platform documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Participate in cloud platform incident response and post-incident reviews.
• Support migration and modernization initiatives between cloud providers and from on-premises to cloud.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 3+ years of hands-on cloud operations experience across Azure and/or AWS (multi-cloud Azure + AWS experience strongly preferred).
• Working experience with Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or CloudFormation.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts: VPCs / VNets, subnets, security groups, NSGs, peering, hybrid connectivity (VPN, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect).
• Hands-on experience with cloud cost management tooling: Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer, or third-party FinOps platforms.
• Experience with cloud monitoring and observability: CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Datadog, Grafana, or equivalent.
• Proficiency with scripting and automation: Python, Bash, PowerShell.
• Familiarity with containerised workloads and managed Kubernetes (AKS, EKS).
• Solid understanding of identity and access management across cloud platforms.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
Preferred
• Cloud certifications: Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or higher, AWS Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator.
• FinOps Certified Practitioner certification or equivalent practical FinOps experience.
• Exposure to cloud governance frameworks (Azure Landing Zones, AWS Control Tower, Cloud Adoption Framework).
• Experience with cloud security tooling: Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, AWS Security Hub, Wiz, Prisma Cloud, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with chargeback and showback reporting models in B2B environments.
• Experience supporting cloud migrations between providers or cloud repatriation initiatives.
• Background in regulated environments (gaming, finance) with audit and compliance exposure.
• Exposure to legacy Alibaba Cloud workloads is a plus, given some residual workloads in our APAC footprint.
