We are seeking a talented Accountant to join our shared services team located in our Panamá office.
The successful candidate will perform all activities relating to managerial accounting and client accounting matters for the creation and timely preparation of monthly financial statements, activities relating to the management of the credit functions, cash collection from clients, collecting on delinquent accounts and giving support to the Management team of the company. The successful applicant may be required to undergo training overseas and should be willing and able to travel internationally to work in other Trident Trust offices.
General Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team on the production of tight deadlines, of monthly management accounts of Trident as well as the financial statements.
- Apply accounting principles and procedures to analyse financial information and prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements.
- Reconcile bank statements and other reconciliations where necessary.
- Calculate monthly accruals and prepayments.
- Assist with the annual audit of Trident and client entities and prepare any accounting documents as may be required.
- Audit and review delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectable; ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad credit status to accounts.
- Prepare weekly reports for Directors and any other ad hoc reports that are requested from time to time.
- Provide support and assistance to the Finance Manager and any related duties as assigned.
- Performing data entry using accounting software to prepare trial balances from which to produce management accounts and financial statements; organizing and preparing schedules and working papers that support the figures stated in the management accounts and financial statements.
- Filing tax returns as necessary.
- Liaising with clients and others where appropriate regarding audit threshold and requirements; liaising with auditors when required.
Skills and Experience
- Professionally qualified such as ACCA, CPA, or ACA with at least five years’ experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both written and oral communications in Spanish and English.
- Ability to work under pressure, work independently, supervise junior staff members and to be organized.
- Ability to multi-task and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
- Some knowledge of the corporate and fiduciary services industry.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Demonstrate a professional, positive, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Knowledge of Viewpoint would be an advantage.
